Breaking: Anne Frank tree in Amsterdam broken
If we can believe these pictures (here and here), the world famous Anne Frank tree has blown over and is broken in two.
In 2007 we wrote about it being possibly saved by a judge and not cut down, but fate has decided otherwise.
The tree has been sick for years. It is famous for having been described in Anne Frank’s Diary.

Such a shame! And you know, I’ve been to the Anne Frank House numerous times and never noticed it. I did hear that they took saplings from it not long after they had orginally decided to cut it down. There’s one at the Anne Frank garden in France and one at the White House in the US. So at least it’s living on in some way
